Astonishing Comic Reader

Comic reading on Android

Astonishing Comic Reader is a comics app for Android users who want to browse and read digital issues in a clean, artwork-focused interface. It is suited to readers with collections stored on their device, especially those using CBR or CBZ files and looking for a simpler alternative to a file browser.

Library and reading tools

The app presents comics through cover art and collection views, making it easier to find a series or continue with the next issue. Its zoom and page navigation are built around detailed comic artwork, while suggestions can help point readers toward the next issue or related titles in their library.

• Reads common CBR and CBZ comic files.
• Supports cloud storage for accessing or downloading comics.
• Includes snapshots for saving selected panels or pages.
• Offers Google Cast support for viewing comics on a larger screen.
• Can integrate with Muzei to use comic artwork as changing wallpaper.

Who it suits

Astonishing Comic Reader works well for readers who prefer a focused library rather than a crowded collection of extra features. Cloud access is useful for larger libraries, while Cast support makes the app practical when a phone or tablet screen feels too small. The snapshots tool also gives readers a direct way to keep or share individual moments from a comic.
